How to Recover a Hacked Facebook Account

1. Secure Your Device

Before attempting to recover your Facebook account, ensure that your device is secure and free from malware or viruses. Use trusted antivirus software to scan your device if necessary.

2. Access the Facebook Account Recovery Page

Go to the Facebook Login Page:

  • Open your web browser and go to Facebook.
  • Click on Forgot password? below the login fields.

Identify Your Account:

  • Enter your email address, phone number, username, or full name associated with the hacked account.
  • Click on Search.

Select Your Account:

  • Identify your account from the list provided and click on This is my account.

3. Verify Your Identity

Facebook offers several methods to verify your identity to regain access:

  • Email or Phone Number: If you have access to the email address or phone number associated with your account, Facebook will send a verification code.
  • Trusted Contacts: If you previously set up trusted contacts, you can request help from them to access your account.
  • Security Questions: Answer security questions if you have set them up.

4. Secure Your Account

Change Your Password:

  • Once you regain access, immediately change your Facebook password to a strong and unique one that you haven’t used before.

Check Account Activity:

  • Review recent activity on your account to ensure no unauthorized actions were taken. Facebook allows you to see recent logins and active sessions.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

  • Turn on 2FA for added security. This requires a second form of verification (e.g., code sent to your phone) when logging in from unrecognized devices.

5. Contact Facebook Support

If you are unable to recover your account using the above steps, you can contact Facebook Support directly for assistance:

  • Go to the Facebook Help Center.
  • Navigate to Security and Login > Report Compromised Account.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to report the issue to Facebook’s support team.

Additional Tips:

  • Monitor Account Activity: Regularly check your account for any unusual activity even after recovery.
  • Update Security Settings: Ensure your security settings are up to date to prevent future hacks.
  • Educate Yourself: Learn about common phishing scams and practice good security habits online.
