Changing Your Profile Picture on the Instagram Mobile App

Open Instagram App:

  • Launch the Instagram app on your mobile device and log in to your account if you haven’t already.

Go to Your Profile:

  • Tap on your profile icon in the bottom right corner to go to your profile page.

Edit Profile:

  • Tap on the "Edit Profile" button below your bio.

Change Profile Photo:

  • Tap on "Change Profile Photo". You’ll be presented with several options:
    • New Profile Photo: Choose a new photo from your device’s gallery.
    • Import from Facebook: Use a photo from your connected Facebook account.
    • Take Photo: Take a new photo with your device’s camera.
    • Remove Profile Photo: Remove your current profile photo.

Select a Photo:

  • If you choose to upload a new photo, select the photo you want from your gallery, adjust it as necessary, and tap "Next" or "Done" (depending on your device).

Save Changes:

  • Adjust the photo using the provided tools if needed, then tap "Done" or "Save" to set it as your profile picture.

Changing Your Profile Picture on Instagram Web

Log in to Instagram:

  • Open a web browser, go to Instagram.com, and log in to your account.

Go to Your Profile:

  • Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select “Profile” from the dropdown menu.

Edit Profile:

  • Click on the “Edit Profile” button next to your username.

Change Profile Photo:

  • Click on “Change Profile Photo” above your username. You will see options to:
    • Upload Photo: Choose a new photo from your computer.
    • Remove Current Photo: Remove the current profile photo.

Upload a New Photo:

  • Click on “Upload Photo” and select the image you want to use from your computer. Adjust the photo as necessary.

Save Changes:

  • Click “Save” to update your profile picture.

Tips for Choosing a Good Profile Picture

  • High Quality: Use a clear, high-resolution photo.
  • Proper Lighting: Ensure the photo is well-lit, avoiding harsh shadows.
  • Centered Subject: Make sure your face or the subject is centered and easily visible.
  • Consistent Branding: If you use Instagram for business or personal branding, use a photo that reflects your brand identity.
  • Appropriate Size: Instagram profile pictures are displayed in a circular frame. Ensure the main subject is within the central area of the image to avoid being cut off.
