1. Check Your Email for Security Notifications

  • Look for Alerts: Google usually sends an email notification if there’s suspicious activity or if changes are made to your account (such as a new recovery email added).
  • Revert Changes: If you receive such an email and didn’t make the changes, you can often revert the changes directly from the email.

2. Use Google Account Recovery

  • Visit the Recovery Page: Go to the Google Account Recovery page.
  • Follow the Prompts: Enter your email address and follow the instructions to recover your account. You may be asked to:
    • Enter the last password you remember.
    • Verify via a code sent to your recovery email or phone number.
    • Answer security questions.

3. Report Account Hacking to YouTube

  • Fill Out the Form: If you can’t regain access through the standard recovery methods, you can report the hacking directly to YouTube:
    • Go to the YouTube Help Center.
    • Scroll down and select Contact Us.
    • Follow the steps to fill out the account recovery form with as much detail as possible.

4. Secure Your Account

Once you’ve regained access, it’s crucial to secure your account to prevent future hacks:

Change Your Password

  • Strong Password: Create a new, strong password that you haven’t used before. Use a mix of letters, numbers, and special characters.
  • Password Manager: Consider using a password manager to keep track of your passwords.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  • Turn on 2FA: Go to your Google Account settings, navigate to the Security section, and enable 2-Step Verification.
  • Additional Layer: This requires you to enter a code sent to your phone in addition to your password.

Review and Update Account Information

  • Recovery Information: Ensure your recovery email and phone number are up to date.
  • Check Devices: Review the devices connected to your account and remove any that you don’t recognize.

Revoke Unauthorized Access

  • Third-Party Apps: Go to your Google Account settings, navigate to Security, and review third-party apps with access to your account. Revoke access for any suspicious or unnecessary apps.

5. Monitor Your Account

  • Regular Checks: Regularly check your account activity for any suspicious behavior.
  • Alerts: Set up alerts for unrecognized sign-ins or changes to your account information.

Example Steps for Google Account Recovery

Start Recovery:

  • Visit the Google Account Recovery page.
  • Enter your YouTube account email.

Verify Identity:

  • Enter the last password you remember.
  • Choose to receive a verification code via your recovery email or phone number.
